The Truth About Age Related Memory Loss

BLOOMFIELD, CT, May 25, 2018 – Duncaster is hosting a program about age-related memory loss. The discussion will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 3 p.m. The discussion is a part of Duncaster’s monthly series, “The Art and Science of Graceful Aging.”This program will take place on Duncaster’s campus, located at 40 Loeffler Road. The event is open to the public, however pre-registration is required.
The 6th leading cause of death in the United States is Alzheimer’s disease. An estimated 5.7 million Americans of all ages are living with Alzheimer’s dementia in 2018 according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The speakers are Dawn Murphy, MD Geriatric Medicine and Patty O’Brian, CDP, Alzheimer’s/dementia specialist. Both practice at the Hartford Healthcare Center for Healthy Aging.
Dr. Murphy has 29 years of experience in geriatric medicine and graduated from Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Patty O’ Brian created a program for the Hartford Healthcare Senior Services called “Memories and More” to help those with memory loss to get in touch with their long- term memories.
The discussion will bring knowledge to what is normal in regards to memory loss and what is not. It will help people understand the symptoms and treatments as well.
