What is Palliative and Hospice Care?

Free program at Duncaster July 12 on support for the end-of-life journey.

Hospice CareBLOOMFIELD, CT, June 19, 2018 – Duncaster is hosting a program about Palliative and Hospice Care. The discussion will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 3 p.m. The discussion is a part of Duncaster’s monthly series, “The Art and Science of Graceful Aging. ”This program will take place on Duncaster’s campus, located at 40 Loeffler Road. The event is open to the public, however pre-registration is required.

Palliative medicine is compassionate care of the whole person and loved ones with a focus on meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Palliative and hospice care emphasize relief of suffering, achieving an optimum quality of life, and enhanced communications between the integrated care team and those who served to preserve the patient’s dignity and support the end-of-life journey.

The speaker is Ross Albert, MD, PhD Chief, Division of Palliative Medicine, Hartford Hospital and Hospice Medical Director, HHC at Home. Dr. Ross Albert is a family medicine doctor in Hartford, Connecticut and is affiliated with Hartford Hospital. He received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and has been in practice between 11-20 years. He is one of 57 doctors at Hartford ospital who specialize in Family Medicine.
